Dear KES families,
What a wonderful way to kick off the school year! Today, we held our first full-school assembly at Kent Elementary School, and I could not be more proud of our students and staff.
Our assembly officially launched our first SEL theme of the school year: Belonging. We talked about what it means to make sure everyone feels welcomed, valued, included, and that they belong at KES. We also enjoyed reading Strictly No Elephants, a wonderful story that reminds us that everyone deserves a place where they feel they belong.
We also introduced and talked about the 6 C’s and how they help us be the best versions of ourselves and contribute to our KES community. Our students were amazing! They listened, participated, and showed exactly what it means to be a member of the KES community.
A huge thank you to our staff for helping make this special experience possible and for continuing to create classrooms and a school where every child knows they belong.
When your children get home today, ask them this question:
“Who makes EVERYONE belong at KES?”
Here’s a hint: The answer is “WE DO!”
Let’s continue to make sure every member of our KES community feels seen, valued, welcomed, and that they truly belong.
Thank you,
Kerry Weltman
